I started in the honky tonks in and around Beaumont, Texas. Mainly lead guitar at that time, playing country and Cajun.
Did some studio work for Johnny Paycheck and Billy Jo Spears at that time too. Also doing DJ work for KTRM radio, Beaumont.
Wasn't till living near New Orleans when I truly realized my song writing talent. Watched a news broadcast and the entire song " New Orleans Slum Bum " came to me. Likewise the song on this station " Goin Back to New Orleans " came to me complete after a negative news cast about the city. Being a former resident pre-Katrina I felt a need for a positive song for all touch by Katrina.
Although I had my own band in New Orleans, I got to play lead for Bobby Helms when he played there. Lived close to Doug Kershaw, let him play our families fiddle on a show once. Not the pink one in the picture, hah.
I hope you enjoy this great music channel, and of course my song.
