The members of The Sons of Harmony make their home in Baltimore,Maryland where the group was formed in the summer of 1999 when it's original members were struggling and being treated for drug and alcohol addiction.
After their successful completion and graduation from the facility, they quickly became known for their a' capella singing by their peers and wherever they performed and have been considered a throwback to "old gospel" when it comes to their singing style. Now approaching their 11th year of singing the gospel, some of the original members have moved on, having to be replaced and the group has at times found themselves at a crossroad as to whether to continue on while struggling to maintain their togetherness, and the sound that they have come to be recognized for by their listening audience.
From humble beginnings the group has earned or been nominated for numerous music recognitions and awards such as :
2007 Fred Newsome Award for “Best a’cappella Group of the Year"
2nd Place Winners 2009 Security Square Mall "Choir & Quartet Competition" in Baltimore, MD
2009 Nominees at the Independent Music Song Award
2010 Black Essence Music Award Winners
They have also been recognized by the Cambridge Honor Society, for their inspiring story of perseverance in the face of adversity and the vision for their ministry in the future.
